These are the rules for buying and selling on Quidbo. They are written in plain English. If anything here is unclear, ask us before you buy or sell.
Quidbo is the marketplace
Quidbo runs the website, checks every account against a real ID, takes payment and holds it until the item has arrived. We do not own or sell the items listed here.
When you buy, your contract is with the seller, not with Quidbo. The seller is responsible for the item, its description and posting it to you.
Cancelling and returns
Every seller is either a private seller or a business seller. The listing and your order confirmation say which. Your rights depend on it.
Buying from a business seller
UK consumer law gives you these rights. The business seller owes them to you, not Quidbo.
You can change your mind. Tell the seller within 14 days of the item arriving, then send it back within 14 days of telling them.
The seller refunds the price and the original postage within 14 days of getting the item back, or of you showing proof you posted it.
You pay the cost of sending it back, unless the seller's listing says they will.
This does not cover items made or personalised for you, or sealed items such as cosmetics that have been opened.
If the item is faulty, you can reject it for a full refund within 30 days of it arriving. After that, the seller can repair or replace it first.
Buying from a private seller
There is no right to change your mind. The 14-day cancellation right only applies to buying from a business.
The item must be as described in the listing. If it is not, or it never arrives, the Quidbo Guarantee covers you.
Before it is posted
A buyer can ask the seller to cancel. If the seller agrees, the buyer is refunded in full.
A seller can cancel any order before posting it, with no penalty to the seller. The buyer is refunded in full.
The Quidbo Guarantee
If you pay through Quidbo checkout and the item does not arrive, or is not as described, you get your money back. This covers items from private and business sellers.
Payments made any other way, such as a bank transfer arranged in messages, are never covered. Keep the whole deal on Quidbo.
How to claim
Open your order and tap "Report a problem". Do this within 30 days of the item arriving. If it has not arrived, you can claim from 7 days after it was posted, or from 5 days after you paid if the seller never marks it posted.
Say what is wrong and add photos. The seller is told straight away, and the seller's money is held while the claim is open.
The seller has 3 days to put it right: a refund, a replacement, or a return for a refund.
If you cannot agree within 3 days, either of you can ask Quidbo to decide. We look at the listing as it was when you bought, the weights recorded, the seller's dispatch photos and your messages.
If we ask you to send the item back, post it within 7 days with tracking. When the claim is that the item was not as described, the seller pays for the return.
When the money moves
If it never arrived, you are refunded when the claim is decided in your favour.
If it comes back, the seller has 3 days after delivery to check what came back, weight included. You are refunded when the seller confirms it, or when the 3 days are up.
If you damaged the item, the seller can deduct for the damage, with photos. Quidbo reviews any deduction you dispute.
A refund goes back to the card you paid with. It usually shows on your statement within 5 to 10 days.
Claims made in bad faith
We track how often each buyer claims. A buyer who keeps claiming is flagged, ID-checked again and then blocked. A knowingly false claim is fraud: the account is banned for life and we report it to Action Fraud.
Auctions
Auctions are not open yet. When they open, these rules apply.
The winning bidder must pay within 12 hours of the auction ending.
A winner who does not pay in time loses status points, and the seller can relist the item for free.
The 12-hour rule is shown on the item page before you bid, and in the email to the winner.
Your account
One account per person. Every account is checked against a real ID before it can sell or be paid.
Keep your address up to date. Sellers post to the address on your order.
Ratings must come from real orders. Buying your own items, or trading ratings, gets the accounts involved closed.
We can hold, end or remove a listing, or close an account, that breaks these rules. We tell you why.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the date at the top changes too. An order is covered by the terms in force on the day it was placed.
